In November of 2009, I decided to try out this whole vegan thing. It started out as an environmental thing after reading the UN's "Livestock's Long Shadow" report, but quickly I came to appreciate the health, ethical, and philosophical aspects also.
I am currently in the Global Studies program at the New School in NYC. This means I study things like urban homelessness, human trafficking, the impact of climate change on third world countries, and the politics behind it all.
I am intolerant of intolerance.
Have a questions? Ask me.
Put an End to Shark Finning Today
Global demand for shark fin soup has pushed several shark populations to the brink of collapse. Shark finning is the cruel and wasteful practice of hacking off fins from live sharks, tossing the dead or dying animal overboard.
Not only is finning inhumane, but it also complicates fishery management since differentiating shark species is difficult once fins are removed.
The Shark Conservation Act would end shark finning in U.S. waters and make us world leaders in shark conservation and fisheries management.
There are only a few months left in this Congressional session. Tell your Senators TODAY that you demand shark protections and the passage of the Shark Conservation Act
Please take action now.
